Stop the Bleed Kits

  • Campus Safety  ›  Emergency Plans  ›  Stop the Bleed Kits
  • Your safety remains our top priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to emergency preparedness and campus well-being, we have installed “Stop the Bleed” emergency bleeding control kits in key locations across campus.

These life-saving kits are designed to empower university students, faculty, staff and visitors to take immediate action in the event of a severe bleeding emergency — whether caused by an accident, injury, or other unforeseen event — before professional help arrives. Rapid response can mean the difference between life and death, and “Stop the Bleed” kits make it possible for anyone to help save a life.

    What’s Inside

Each “Stop the Bleed” kit contains:

    • C-A-T® Tourniquet
    • 6 in. NAR Responder ETD (Emergency Trauma Dressing)
    • Wound Packing Gauze
    • Responder Nitrile Gloves
    • Responder Trauma Shears
    • Survival Blanket
    • Permanent Marker, Small
    • Just in Time Instruction Card
    • Clear Vinyl Pouch

These kits are mounted near existing AED stations in campus facilities (automated external defibrillator) and clearly labeled for quick access during an emergency.

    How to Use Them

While anyone can use a “Stop the Bleed” kit in an emergency, we strongly encourage all faculty, staff and students to view the Stop the Bleed training video and free resources. These resources teach you how to:

    • Recognize life-threatening bleeding
    • Apply pressure and use wound-packing techniques
    • Correctly apply a tourniquet
