- If classes are cancelled, the university will remain open with services available, including University Police, dining services, and housing.
- Campus leaders will remain on campus to assist students.
- In case we experience a power outage, generators will be used to power key offices and services.
- Encourage your student to charge cell phones, laptops, and other devices in advance of inclement weather.
- The safest place for resident students is on campus. Please encourage them to stay safe and off the roads.
- USC Aiken is the evacuation point for USC Beaufort students and employees. If necessary, accommodations will be made for them on campus.
- Encourage your students to stay tuned to the local forecast.
- If your student must travel, encourage them to be aware of the traveling conditions along their routes and make necessary judgments regarding amendments to their plans.
- Monitor USC Aiken's web site for updates.
Sign Up for Emergency Text Messages
Your student’s safety is our top priority at USCA. One important way we keep our campus community informed during emergencies is through our Emergency Notification System—and we want to make sure families can stay in the loop as well.
Parents and family members can receive emergency alerts by asking their student to add your contact information to their emergency notification profile.
Here’s how your student can include you:
- Have your student log in to the Account Management Portal at https://myaccount.sc.edu.
- Once logged in, they should navigate to the Emergency Notification section.
- In that section, your student can enter additional mobile numbers in the Mobile Phone 2 and Mobile Phone 3 fields—this is where your contact information can be added.
By being included in their profile, you’ll receive important messages in the event of campus emergencies, weather alerts, or other urgent updates.
We encourage you to have this conversation with your student soon so you can stay informed and connected.
