Services

The USCA Psychology Clinic is a training site for the USCA Applied Clinical Psychology Master’s Program. Clinicians are advanced graduate students supervised by licensed mental health professionals. All sessions are video recorded for training purposes. We prioritize evidence-based practice – that is, interventions and assessments that have been shown through scientific research to be effective.

Therapy

Therapy is typically conducted in once-weekly, 50-minute sessions, but services can be scheduled to fit clients’ needs. In addition to individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, we offer family therapy and parenting consultation services. Here are several, but not all, of the therapy approaches we commonly employ.

Depression and anxiety

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Schema therapy
  • Unified Protocol (UP)
  • Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicide (CAMS)

Posttraumatic stress and grief

  • Cognitive processing therapy (CPT)
  • Prolonged exposure (PE)
  • Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Complicated grief treatment (CGT)

Obsessive compulsive disorder

  • Exposure and response prevention (ERP)

Childhood behavioral issues

  • Parent management training (PMT), also known as behavioral parent training

Assessments

We offer comprehensive psychological assessments for various issues. Concerns that we commonly address in our assessments include learning issues (e.g., specific learning disability, intellectual disability), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, psychopathology (e.g., depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder), personality disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. The scope and cost of the assessment depend on the nature of the referral question(s), which are determined at the intake appointment. All psychological assessments end with a feedback session to explain results and recommendations to clients. Written reports are provided to clients and can be shared with other professionals as requested by the client.

Fees

We offer low-cost services designed to fit clients’ budgets. All intake sessions (i.e., the first official meeting between client and clinician) have a standard rate of $15. The standard rate for therapy is $70 per session. Total costs for assessments range from $500 to $1500, depending on the nature of the referral question(s). However, most clients qualify for reduced rates for both therapy and assessments with our sliding scale, which is based on annual household income. Proof of income must be provided to quality for the sliding scale.

Discounts

USCA affiliates (students, faculty, and staff) are eligible for a 10% discount. USCA students referred by the Veteran and Military Student Success Center have their therapy fees covered by that office. With the generous support of the Aiken Augusta Wounded Warriors Charity Golf Classic, we provide psychological services to veterans of the US military at no cost. Payment is due at the time of service. Services may be suspended if there is an ongoing unpaid balance.
