Before Arriving to Campus
New and returning USCA students, should complete the steps below before arriving on campus to avoid unexpected problems connecting computers to the campus network.
Newly Admitted or Transferring Student?
Has it been at least 72-hours since you were accepted? If not, you should check back again in a day or two.
Transfer and "Change of Campus" Students may also run into issues if they were not properly released from their previous campus before being accepted by the USCA Office of Admissions. Even if you only took college credit courses in high school, the system may still treat you as a "change of campus" student. Please call your old Admissions Office to ensure you were properly released. Then contact the USCA Office of Admissions at 803-641-3366. Explain the issue you're having to them and let them know the Help Desk has asked you to check that you are properly accepted after a transfer. Once this is completed, please try the steps above again.
Make Sure Your Pacer and Network Accounts are Ready to Use
Perform Operating System Updates
Keeping your OS (Windows or OS X) up-to-date is the most important step in protecting your system and the campus network from virus and malware outbreaks. You should always leave Automatic Updates turned on and complete any critical or important updates as they become available. Depending on how well your system has been maintained, an update may take as little as five minutes or several reboot cycles.
Install or Update Antivirus Software
If your anti-virus software updates properly and doesn't run into errors, it is probably still in good working order. If so, you'll want to use it to run a full system scan.
If your anti-virus software won't update or runs into problems, it's likely corrupted by the infections you found earlier. You'll need to replace it. You can either re-install and update your current software, or download a reliable free anti-virus program. Whatever you choose, be sure to update your anti-virus software completely and then run a full system scan.
