USCA’s Esports teams to compete in the Peach Belt Conference this weekend

In 2019, USCA’s League of Legends team triumphed in the PBC.
The University of South Carolina Aiken’s Esports teams are heading back to compete for gold this weekend at this year’s Peach Belt Conference at the Division II level.
The event will be held in Florence, South Carolina, at the Florence Center on Saturday, November 2, and Sunday, November 3. “The students are really excited,” said Dr. David Morris, Coordinator and Head Coach of USCA’s Esports program. “We have been blessed to go to almost every one of the in-person events and have made playoffs and championships almost every season.”
20 students will compete in two PBC titles, Overwatch 2 and Rocket League. “It’s the inaugural year for Super Smash Bros Ultimate at the conference,” Dr. Morris said. “We have several students who will also be competing in that.”
In 2019, USCA’s League of Legends team triumphed in the PBC. This Sunday, the Overwatch 2 team, who remains undefeated and has not lost a single game or match, will compete as the top seed against the number two seed, North Carolina Central University.
Dr. Morris is optimistic about the team’s prospects heading into the championship. “They’ve dedicated countless hours to improving their gameplay.”
USCA hosted the 2024 Esports Peach Belt Conference Championship for Overwatch 2 and League of Legends earlier this year. The event at the Florence Center will encompass competition and casual play for high school students, college student-athletes, and the public.
Tickets for the event must be purchased online. Cash will not be accepted at the door.
The Peach Belt Conference is affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
