Almost 70 USCA supporters gathered for the 20th annual Scholarship Scramble, hosted by the USCA Alumni Association, at Woodside Country Club, Nov. 3.

“This is our primary fundraiser for student scholarships,” said Carmen Williams, director of the alumni affairs.

“We appreciate our dedicated players that continue to support year after year. We have a wide range of players and each of them understand the goal and are happy to support us.”

All proceeds from the golf tournament will fund scholarships for USCA students. For the 2025-2026 academic year, eight students received the Legacy Scholarship, and four earned the Student Involvement Scholarship.

“Receiving the scholarship from the Alumni Association gave me the opportunity to focus fully on my education and career goals,” said Kamya Brooks, a communication major who graduates in December. “Their support not only eased the financial burden but also motivated me to give back and stay connected to the university community.”

In addition to providing financial aid to help make a college education more affordable for students, the event gives golfers the opportunity to engage with alumni, industry partners and community members, Williams said.

This year, 17 teams participated in the scramble. The winning foursome dubbed themselves Team Tiny. The group included Darryl Giles, Charles Hodge, Dallas Smith and John Beckham.

Williams, USCA ’10, said the event would not be possible without the support of Woodside Country Club and other sponsors, which included ING Consulting, Coca-Cola, Aiken Regional Medical Centers, State Farm – Collette Ball, Allegiance Industries, and Chick-Fil-A.

“Thank you to everyone who participated,” Williams said. “We hope to continue to grow the tournament each year with more players and sponsors, which will allow us more opportunities to provide scholarships for deserving students.”
