Legacies leave lasting impact for generations of Pacers
USCA celebrated the generous legacies of several donors who have made enduring contributions, ensuring students receive an affordable, accessible, engaging and relevant curriculum, regardless of their courses of study.
Members of the USCA Legacy Society have committed gifts to the university in their wills, trusts or other planned gifts. This group of supporters was honored Nov. 14 during the annual Legacy Society brunch.
“Every legacy gift tells a story. It’s a story of belief — belief in our mission, in our students and in the power of education to change lives. It’s a story of generosity — of people who look beyond today and invest in the future of a university and community they love,” said Dan Elwell, vice chancellor for development and alumni affairs.
“And behind every gift is a ripple of impact — a first-generation student who graduates, a future nurse who goes on to serve our region, a young leader who discovers their voice because someone they’ll never meet believed in them. Thank you for believing in USC Aiken, for sharing your legacy with us and for ensuring this university’s story continues to unfold with strength and purpose.”
Dr. Daniel Heimmermann, chancellor, explained how Legacy Society members’ intentional giving has already made an impact on the university. Their generous financial support helped strengthen enrollment, expand opportunities for students in nursing, education, cybersecurity and engineering, and enhance the student experience in and out of classrooms. Additionally, faculty continue to receive the support needed for cutting-edge research and innovation.
“Most importantly, we remain steadfast in our mission — to provide an exceptional, affordable education that changes lives and strengthens our region. That mission is made possible because of you. Your foresight and generosity give us the stability to dream boldly and the resources to act with confidence,” Heimmermann said.
“Looking ahead, the future is bright for USC Aiken. With new partnerships forming across the region, continued investment in our academic programs, and the enduring support of friends like you, I’m confident that our best chapters are still to come.”
Guest speaker for the event was retired Vice Adm. Charles Munns, who serves as a member of the Aiken Partnership Board, was once the USCA School of Business executive-in-residence and a former president and chief executive officer of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.
“To each of you who has chosen to make USC Aiken part of your legacy — thank you. Your belief in this university sustains us, inspires us, and challenges us to live up to the trust you’ve placed in us,” Heimmermann said. You are part of the fabric of this institution, and your generosity ensures that USC Aiken will continue to thrive for generations.”
Editor’s note: Donors may support USCA at any time, especially on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 2.
