Mechanical engineering student named student of the month
The Sunrise Rotary Club selected Emiliano Corral of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, as the November Student of the Month.
He is working toward a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, with an eye on the future.
“My professional goals involve me securing a well-paying job, attempting to pass my fundamentals of engineering exam and becoming a good mechanical engineer, focusing on design and automation,” Corral said.
In addition to his course work, Corral has had two internships with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and has been active in several student organizations. He currently serves as the vice president of the Hispanic Student Association and as the Student Government Association’s senator for the College of Sciences and Engineering.
He says he has learned several lessons, particularly as a leader in the Hispanic Student Association.
“I define leadership by judging your ability to lead a group of individuals and whether or not said group is successful or not, they still have that drive, that perseverance of not giving up and having the same motivation they had from the start,” Corral said.
“That can’t be built by everyone; it is built and kept from the right leadership and accountability.”
Corral said family ties led him to become a Pacer.
“I chose USCA because my sister was enrolled at USCA, and she convinced me to come to school with her. It was easy because she was doing the same major as me,” he said.
