Aiken, SC — The Ruth Patrick Science Education Center (RPSEC) at USCA will host the 40th Annual SEED STEM Festival on Sat., Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on campus. This free, family-friendly event invites the community to explore the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through hands-on learning.

“This year’s festival will feature more than 75 interactive exhibits,” said John Hutchens, director of special programs at the RPSEC. “From exploring the world of honeybees and experimenting with chemistry to making paper, gaming, uncovering geological treasures and traveling virtually through outer space—there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

Exhibitors include student organizations, regional companies, museums, professional associations, government agencies, educators and national laboratories. Visitors will encounter engaging demonstrations in fields such as robotics, nuclear power, aviation, biology, chemistry, neuroscience, biodiversity and more.

“This festival highlights the essential role of STEM in the future of the CSRA while inspiring curiosity in learners of all ages,” Hutchens added. “Our mission is to connect young people and families with STEM professionals, helping them see both the importance and the fun of STEM.”

The SEED STEM Festival is presented by the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center in partnership with the Aiken County Public School District and is made possible through the support of sponsors, including SRP Credit Union, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, Savannah River National Laboratory, Generac, Citizens for Nuclear Technology Awareness, SRS Community Reuse Organization, Southern Nuclear, Kimberly-Clark, Public Education Partners, Savannah River Mission Completion, WJBF, Bridgestone, and the Mike Hostilo Law Firm.
