Gallery Opening this Friday as part of the Carolina Series
“The Art and Artistry of Shawn Haynes” Gallery Opening Shawn Haynes, a painter from Columbia, SC, will display her art in the Etherredge Center gallery from February 7 through March 16, 2025. The new gallery show will be celebrated with an opening reception on Friday, February 7 at 6 p.m. Shawn Haynes is the visual artist chosen to be presented for the Etherredge Center’s 2024/2025 Carolina Series, which honors artists local to our state. At the opening gala, Haynes will give an artist talk, describing her vision for her collection and answering questions from community members.
“As far back as I can remember, every part of my life has felt like a work of art—the way I arranged my toys, the direction I chose when walking the aisles of the grocery store, or the collection of notebooks I picked out at the beginning of a new school year. It seems as if my memories are snippets of organized color and movement,” claims Haynes. “As a South Carolina native, those visual snapshots are framed with smells and sounds of the diverse landscapes and varied cultures that have made me whole. These sensations are ever present as I attempt to visually express impressionistic and abstract renditions of the compositions in my mind.” A graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Arts in Teaching, Haynes spent years introducing high school students to Studio Art, Art History, and Photography. She now has a home studio where she works every day. Her passion is dreaming of new ways to express her colorfully eclectic visions in her paintings.
Tickets for “The Art and Artistry of Shawn Haynes” gala reception are $20 each. Tickets provide access to the artist talk and reception which includes food and an open bar.
