Upcoming Conference: "Languages in the South" to Explore Innovations in Language Pedagogy

Aiken, SC — Augusta University and the University of South Carolina Aiken are proud to announce the upcoming conference, “Languages in the South: Perspectives, Approaches, and Practices in Language Pedagogy,” set to take place on April 17–18, 2025, at Augusta University’s Summerville Campus.
The event will feature a keynote address by Dr. Mercedes López Rodríguez, Spanish Program Director and Associate Professor of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of South Carolina. Dr. López Rodríguez is a distinguished scholar in the field of language education and pedagogy.
This conference invites scholars, professors, instructors, and researchers to explore the state of language teaching, learning, and education in the Southeastern United States. Participants will share insights on topics such as multiculturalism, interdisciplinary teaching, and the evolving role of technology in language instruction.
Call for Submissions
Abstracts are now being accepted for individual presentations and round-table discussions. Proposals should align with themes such as:
- Language pedagogy and instruction
- Multiculturalism and globality
- Cognitive development and language acquisition
- Interdisciplinary language classrooms
- Technology and artificial intelligence in education
Round table sessions will address key issues, including:
- Recruitment and retention in language education
- The impact of artificial intelligence and technology on the field
Abstract submissions must include a title, description (up to 150 words), and a short biography (75 words). Submissions should specify the presentation type (individual or round table) and be sent in Word or PDF format to Dr. Christopher Botero (cbotero@augusta.edu) and Dr. Ángel M. Rañales (angel.ranales@usca.edu) by February 28, 2025.

Additional Details
Presentations will be conducted in English. A registration fee of $30 applies upon acceptance. The full conference program will be available in mid-March.
