USCA basketball player honored by civic organization
Aiken’s Sunrise Rotary Club selected Camryn Perkins, from Warner Robbins, Georgia, as its Student of the Month for October.
The business administration major juggles a busy schedule, attending classes, studying and playing for the USCA basketball team, all while maintaining a 3.75 GPA.
“What keeps me motivated is my faith in God, the support of my family and my personal drive to get one percent better every day. I believe small, consistent improvements add up to big results, and that mindset pushes me to keep working hard,” Perkins said.
While at USCA, Perkins has been part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was named to the Peach Belt Presidential Honor Roll and the USCA President List. This year, Perkins and the rest of the Pacers on the men’s basketball team won the Peach Belt Conference championship.
He played basketball throughout high school as well and has learned several lessons in class and on the court.
“Through this experience, I’ve learned how to lead by example, encourage my teammates, and hold myself accountable. Being a consistent part of a team taught me that leadership is not just about titles but about effort, attitude and the ability to inspire others to give their best,” Perkins said.
“Leadership is guiding and inspiring others by example, encouraging teamwork, and helping people reach a common goal.”
He hopes to continue leading and playing basketball after graduation.
“My professional goal is to play basketball at the highest level and, after my playing career, establish and operate my own training facility and basketball organization,” Perkins said.
“I want to use my platform and experience to help develop the next generation of athletes by providing high-quality training, mentorship, and opportunities within the sport.”
Perkins says committing to USCA has helped him in his personal, academic and athletic growth.
“I chose USCA because when I was being recruited, it felt like a true family environment,” he said.
“At USCA, you’re not just a number. Your professors and peers genuinely know you and care about your success, both on and off the court.”
