USCA celebrates 400+ graduates
Families, alumni and loved ones gathered at USCA’s December Commencement Ceremony to celebrate the achievements of more than 400 graduates. Approximately 468 students, including 283 undergraduates and 185 graduate students, earned their degrees on Dec. 12 at the Convocation Center.
“The Class of 2025 reflects the promise of what lies ahead,” said Dr. Daniel Heimmermann, chancellor of USCA, during his opening remarks. “Many of you will begin new careers after tonight, taking what you’ve learned here into workplaces and communities near and far.”
Among this semester’s graduating class were some students who went above and beyond in their respective fields of study. Jaxon Whiddon, received his degree in business administration and says he hopes to serve in the Army’s Special Forces.
Taylor Joop, a graduate from the School of Nursing, was presented with the Outstanding Senior Student award during the ceremony.
During her time at USCA, Joop has maintained a 4.0 grade point average, earning recognition on both the Dean’s and President’s Lists. After graduation, Joop plans to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Carle Foundation Hospital in Illinois.
“USCA provided us with a community filled opportunities and experiences that is the foundation for the rest of our lives,” Joop said during her remarks. “While I only know the professors in the School of Nursing, I know they are the best because that is the standard held at USCA.” Watch Joop's full speech here.
The ceremony concluded with graduates celebrating alongside family, friends and faculty while reflecting on their accomplishments.
“What you’ve gained here isn’t meant to sit on a shelf. Use your knowledge and skills to make a difference, for your families, your communities and for the people whose lives you’ll touch. That’s where education really matters,” Heimmermann said to graduates.
