Aiken Sunrise Rotary named USCA business major student of month
Ian Williams from Cary, North Carolina, earned Aiken Sunrise Rotary’s Student of the Month honors for February.
The business administration major, with a concentration in management and a minor in psychology, came to USCA last year.
“I transferred to USCA before the start of my junior year for golf. I was always planning on transferring from my previous school, because of my athletic aspirations,” he said.
“I was attracted to the quality of everything golf here, as well as the price, and the town after we visited.”
Since arriving on campus, Williams has been involved in several organizations, including the Student Life Office. He’s planned several special events and now serves as the coordinator for the student booster club.
In addition to the Sunrise Rotary award, he has been named USA South Conference Player of the Week four times; USA South Conference Rookie of the Week six times; 2024-2025 USA South First Team All-Conference team and received 2024-2025 Division III PING All-American Honorable Mention.
“To me, leadership is taking the best pieces of one’s role models throughout their lives and applying them to their own life. Then, becoming the best role model themselves that they can be for those around them,” Williams said.
In addition to golf, he enjoys reading, writing, playing guitar, going to the gym, running, pickleball, basketball, soccer, disc golf – and more recently, cooking.
“The knowledge that I am extremely lucky to be passionate in many different fields and having access to those passions through hard work and a good situation keeps me motivated,” Williams said.
