Spring Check-Out Process

Spring 2026 check out process for those residents not remaining for summer school.

General move out information

• Residents are to move out of their rooms (unless they have applied for and been assigned a space for summer school) 24 hours after their last exam
• Standard Check Out will begin on Monday, April 27, 2026
• If a resident wishes to check out before Monday, April 27, 2026, then he or she must use the Express Check Out option
• Residents are to be completely move out of their rooms not later than 24 hours after their last exam
• Graduating residents are to be completely moved out of their room by noon on Thursday, May 7, 2026
• All trash and belongings are to be removed from rooms, this includes from closets, refrigerators, and cupboards
• Furniture must be returned to its original positions at the time of move out
• Complete a walk-through with an RM (if using Standard Check Out)

 Check Out Process

• Refer to the “End of the Year Closing Agenda for Residents for information pertaining to checkout that you should have received from your RM; or click the document below
• Determine if you are going to check out with the standard check out or use the express check out; standard check out is available from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 
• Before you check out, ensure that all of your personal belongings and trash are removed from the room and have the room returned to its original condition and configuration, to avoid any additional charges.
• Go to the area office to check out with an RM after all items have been removed from your room (if you are completing the standard check out); you will return your keys at this time.
• If using the express check out option (available 24 hours per day), complete the Express Check-Out Form on the Housing website.
• When using the express check out option, complete a Key Return and Check-Out envelope at the area office and return it to the drop box in your building.  Ask the RM On-Duty for assistance if you have questions.
• If you have lost your key, tell the RM at the desk if using standard checkout; fill out an envelope. Write “lost keys” on the envelope if you are using express checkout. Failure to do so will result in an improper checkout fee
• All residents must be checked out 24 hours after their last exam, Graduating Residents must be checked out no later than noon on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
• Only those residents who have been approved for a Late Stay or assigned for Summer School Housing may remain after that date and time.
• Please see your RM or the area office with any questions you have about the checkout procedure.

Fines and Damage Fees

• Please know that any damages to the conditions of the room or the furniture may result in damage fees; fees are found in the Community Guide on pages 37-39
• Failure to check out in the process outline above will result in an improper check-out fine of $50.00
• Failure to check out by the dates and times listed above (24 hours after the last exam for residents not graduating or by noon on Thursday, May 7, 2026 for Graduating Residents) may result in a late check out fine; fines are found in the Community Guide on pages 32-39;
• Both the room and mailbox keys are to be returned at check out; failure to do so may result in a fee of $150.00 for the room key and $10.00 for the mailbox key
• As stated above, all residents are to move out of their room 24 hour after their last exam or for Graduating Residents by Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.; a late check out fee of $25.00 for each half hour that a resident remains past the check-out time may be applied for failure to check out on time.

Summer 2026 Move In Information

Summer Move In will take place on a rolling basis, starting the week of May 4, 2026.

All Summer School residents will receive an email of when to come to pick up their keys at the Pacer Commons Office.  Please do not come to pick up your keys until you have received an email from University Housing regarding the readiness of your summer room.
