What To Bring
Soon, you’ll be packing up your stuff and moving to a completely new place. Not only will you be “on your own,” but you’ll also be sharing a relatively small space with other people. Perhaps you’re wondering what to bring. While it may seem tempting to pack up everything you own, DON’T! Space is limited. At the same time, it is important for you to feel comfortable in your new surroundings. Consider the following list a guide for items you may want to bring.
Items to Considering Packing
Bedroom Recommendations
- Two sets of bed sheets
- Pacer Crossings: XL Twin
- Pacer Commons and Pacer Downs: XL Twin
- Mattress protector and pad (see sizes above)
- Pillows and blankets
- Bring extra pillowcases and blankets, too!
- Bedspread/comforter (see sizes above)
- Clothes hangers
- Laundry detergent, fabric softener, etc.
- Laundry basket and/or bag
- Ironing board and iron
- Seasonal clothing and a few items will get you through an unexpected change in weather.
- Athletic clothes, shoes, or equipment
- Personal hygiene products
- If you can, bring multiple quantities of items, especially toilet paper!
- Personal care items/shower items/toiletries
- Shower curtain, shower curtain rings, and bathmat
- Towels, hand towels, and washcloths
- Broom, dustpan, mop or Swiffer, vacuum
- Cleaning supplies such as Windex and paper towels. (We recommend those shower cleaners you spray on every day!)
- Small microwave
- Only for residents living in Pacer Downs or Commons; Pacer Crossings rooms include a microwave.
- Please check with your roommates –you only need one!
- Small coffee maker
- Dishes, cups, and utensils

Pacer Crossings residents: microwave-safe dishes for micro-fridge - Dish soap, sponges, and brushes
- Notepads, notebooks, binders, notebook paper, calendar, and planner
- School supplies (scissors, paper, paperclips, pens, highlighters, stapler, sticky notes, etc.)
- Backpack
- Desk lamp
- Wastebasket
- Graphing calculator
- Printer
- Laptop or tablet
- Posters, pictures, and any special personal item(s) that will help you feel at home
- Crates for storing books, clothes, etc.
- Alarm clock
- Back up cell phone charger
- Coaxial cable to connect your TV to the cable jack
- A 25-foot length will be more than enough.
- TV, HDMI cord, and cable cord
TV can be a smart TV, and you can bring a Firestick/Roku if you like. - Small electric fan
- Air freshener
- First aid supplies: Band-aids, pain relievers, etc.
- UL listed surge protectors with breaker switches if you have a lot of stuff to plug in
- Any health insurance information (i.e., company name, policy number) in case you make an unexpected trip to the hospital/doctor
- Umbrella
We suggest contacting your new roommates before coming to school! There are many items listed above (and probably some we forgot!) that you won’t want two of! It will also provide an opportunity to get to know them before you move into your apartment! As you are probably aware, University Housing provides wireless internet for students.

- Fire hazard items (halogen lamps, hot plates, toaster, toaster oven, fry-daddy)
- Neon signs
- Candles or incense
- Refrigerator
- Blue sticky putty to hang posters
